(Hebrew בְּרִית), the word for covenant.
It is the symbol for the covenant between God and the people of Israel:
” It is an everlasting covenant of salt before the Lord for both you and your offspring.” (Numbers, 18:19). This symbol evolved into the Sabbat dinner whereas the Challah bread is dipped in salt while blessed.
What would be more appropriate and sublime than using this board made from a holyland local tree, a symbol for peace and unity, combined with salt of the Holy Land ?

Salt is a major symbol for blessing in all cultures. In Judaism, it is a symbol to the covenant between the people of Israel and God as said in the Bible : ”It is an everlasting covenant of salt before the Lord for both you and your offspring” (Numbers, 18:19). It derives from the crucial use of salt for sacrifice in the Holy Temple. The ceremony of dipping the challah bread in salt is reassuring this covenant while thanking God for our bread.
